A star filled night!

My hubby is here my hubby is here!!! Hans joined Jacob and I on vacation in Arizona today! He will be here until Sunday morning and then he has to return home and go back to work while Jacob and I continue on our month long vacation. After dinner we heated up the hot tub and went out and enjoyed the night sky. We just basked in the warmth of the water and being able to stair up at the sky that was filled with stars! Being from Alaska, to be able to see the stars like that it usually has to be VERY COLD out, so it is always a treat to be somewhere warm that gets dark.

Not much else is new today. We are just relaxing and enjoying our time . I have been taking a ton of pictures with my Sara's very nice camera that mom got her for Christmas. Here are some from today!

Parenthood...the good, the bad, the ugly

Today has been a challenge for me. Not with Jacob, but with my sisters, in particular Kim. She is 15....that should be enough for anyone to understand. She still just sees me as the older sister and not the adult figure that mom left in charge while she is gone. It all kind of started yesterday. Kim suggested that we rent movies and order pizza and just have a fun night. I thought cool that sounds fun, we were all on board. We went and got movies, came home and ordered pizza. Ate in the living room while watching one of the movies. The movie ended and it was still only about 7ish and Kim announces that she is going to bed. I was like ummmm it is to early to go to bed and we still have movies to watch. She of course wasn't really going to bed, she just wanted to go into her room so she could call her boyfriend Dan (in Canada). Finally I just gave up and whatever, so she retreated to her room and Sara and I watched more movies until it was time to go to bed. Then today the day stared good, we all slept in some, Kim got up and made us breakfast and we went grocery shopping. Then this evening came and I asked her if she was going to make dinner (she cooks in order to get credit for school). She had an attitude and was like no it is the weekend, I don't cook. Thanks for telling me this now that it is dinner time! She then says that she isn't hungry anyways and will not be eating dinner tonight. I told her that she needed to start limiting her phone calls to Dan as she has spend most of her waking hours on the phone with him this weekend. (From 9pm Friday to 6am Monday she has unlimited calling and that includes Canada) I had to inform her that once I go home, we will be turning off the calling outside of AK as the only reason we did that was so that Hans and I could talk (she has a phone from us as our cell provider allows texting to Canada). After all this she saunters back to her room with COOKIES in hand after I had just finished telling her that since she was not going to eat dinner that she didn't need to be eating cookies! That just pissed me off to no end. I actually sent Hans a text asking him if we could easily cut her phone off. After talking to him about it we both decided that doing that would make things more stressful for me this week that I am here with them while mom is on her cruise.

After all this I don't know how my mom deals with it all the time! Besides this kind of behavior, both Kim and Sara bicker back and forth ALL.THE.TIME! It drives me bonkers!

OK vent over...onto the fun stuff.... :)

The other morning when I came home from dropping Sara off at school I took this picture of the sun rise. It was so pretty here!

Then on Friday night we went into the pool here at the house and Kim took these pictures of us! Jacob just loved the warm water. I kept him in his seat thing for awhile, and then took him out and he thought that it was the coolest thing in the world!

So tomorrow starts a new week, that I am crossing my fingers goes good! I am really looking forward to the fact that Hans comes down on Wednesday and will be here until Sunday and then Mom comes back Monday night. We will then be here with mom until next Friday. Then we do the drive back to Vegas and Saturday morning (very early) we fly to Florida!! I can't believe how on one hand it feels like this trip is flying by, and the other it is crawling by.

Catch-up

OK so I realize that I have not updated the blog in almost a month! Where has all the time gone???? Well to pick up where I left off....I never had to have my MRI. The day after it was postponed, I went to the dentist and they found a sinus infection all the way down to my jaw bone! They put me on some antibiotics and I have not had any dizzy spells since. However my blood work still was coming back abnormal and I have since had it redone 4 times and will have to repeat some of the labs when I get back home in late March. If nothing changes then the nurse told me that my doc will be referring me to an internal medicine doctor to see what they say.

On February 5th, Jessica delivered the twins! Jacob now has 2 more cousins! They spent some time in the NICU and are now at home. They are very beautiful and I can't wait until I can meet them in person!

On February 12th, I worked my last day at Alaska Women's Health. I love working there, but had to jump at the ability to work from home and be able to be with Jacob more. They had a very nice going away lunch for me. That night Hans, Jacob, Megan and I all watched the opening ceremony for the Olympics! They were so so so good!

On February 14th,  my friend Megan received the news that her brother Callen was killed in a snowboarding accident while on a ski trip with their dad in Michigan. Megan and Mike headed out on a plane to go back to Minnesota that night to be with her family in this very hard time. Callen was very loved and will be greatly missed by all that had the opportunity to meet him. They were able to keep his spirit going by donating his organs to help other people.

On February 18th, Jacob is now 10 months old!!!!!! I can't believe in just 2 short months my baby will be 1 years old!!! **Tear** I am bad and don't have his "I am 10 month old today" pictures yet, but will in the next few days and will post some then!

And that brings us to the current time. Yesterday my mom flew to Anchorage all to just turn around and fly back so that I didn't have to fly by myself with Jacob! So early this morning Jacob, my mom and I all boarded a plane to head to AZ. Jacob was so great on the flights, but melted down come the 3 hour drive to her house from Vegas. After 4 stops to calm him down / nurse him and me finally just pulling out the pump so that we could get back on the road he finally gave in and fell asleep about 30 minutes away from moms house. We arrived and Kim and Sara tried to go straight to Jacob but we intercepted them to try and keep him asleep. We were able to get the van all unloaded before having to move in out. That of course woke him up, which made his aunts very happy. I sat down after all this and fell right to sleep! Mom woke me up and told me to go and take a nap and I was out for close to 2 hours I think! I needed it! Tomorrow mom and I will get the scanner set up so I can get to work and do anything that we need to get done before she leaves Tuesday morning with Cathy (her MIL)! Then it will be Kim, Sara, Jacob and I here at the house until Hans comes for 5 days. Then once mom is off the cruise we will head to Walt Disney World! One of the first things that Sara told me when I got here was that we only have 20 days until we are there! I couldn't believe that it is that close to being here.

So that brings me current. I will be updating this more often I promise! I have many people who want to hear all about my fun vacation and time in the sun!

OK now it is time that I head off to bed!

MRI postponed

So my MRI that was schedule for today has been postponed until Thursday due to the MRI machine having some issues and not working properly. I also scheduled my abdominal ultrasound for my liver and gallbladder. Before scheduling this I called the hospital and a private ultrasound clinic to get prices and was quite shocked on the difference in price. The private clinic charges $465 and that includes the reading. The hospital charges $1300 and that does not include the reading! So I choose the private clinic as I know the ultrasound techs there as they are who my work contracts for the ultrasounds in our office. I have the ultrasound scheduled for 1pm on Thursday and then the MRI at 4:30 pm.

Jacob is still not feeling great, but he is wanting to play more, so that is a good sign! After dinner and bath time tonight he was quite tired and fell asleep on me and we snuggled together. I tried to put him down, but he would wake right back up and only sleep if I was holding him. I figured that he is still sick and there will be a day that he doesn't want to be held by his mommy so I enjoyed every minute of it. So while he was sleeping, I took this picture of the two of us!

For Christmas, we got him this toy that he can stand behind and push and learn to walk. We have tried a few times to put him behind it and have him stand/push it and he never really understood or was more interested in the toys on the front...well tonight he pushed it and took some steps with it!

Jacob's 9 month stats...and some medical stuff...

Today was Jacob's 9 month check-up. He is growing fantastic! He is 17lbs 11oz and 28 1/4 inches! He has had a cold since last week that I have been worried about. The doctor checked him all out and he does have bronchitis. Unfortunately it is viral so no medication will get rid of it. The doc said that it takes 10 to 14 days to run its course. Until then we just have to deal with a  baby that isn't feeling all that well and who's nose is running all.the.time!

Now onto the other medical stuff..... Back on the 15th I went to the doctor because my dizzy spells came back. They once again gave me the sea sickness patches, and did more blood work. At that visit they diagnosed me with hyperglycemia and vertigo. Well my labs came back from that visit last week and they had me go back in on Friday and gave more labs drawn. I also picked up a order to go and get a MRI done and that happens tomorrow. Then today the nurse calls me and tells me that the doctor added some more tests to my lab order and also wants me to have a ultrasound of my liver and gallbladder. So tomorrow when I go fri the MRI I will get the order for the ultrasound and hopefully get that done sometime this week.

Jacob is 9 months!!!!

I am freaking out just a bit!!! My baby is 9 months old today!!!!! Sometimes I have to stop and realize just how big he is growing.

So after realizing that some days I just don't have much to blog about or the time to do it, I will update at least once a week, sometimes more if I have the time or something important.

Jacob has been crawling and pulling himself to standing for a while now. Tonight I put him behind his walking toy and tried to get him to take a few steps. He did it a couple of times but wasn't to sure what to do. I think that is a good sign that him walking is still a few months away (crossing my fingers that it is at least.) As I was taking his 9 month pictures Hans noticed that I accidentally put 1/18/2009 on the first sign, so I had to remake it and put 2010, so yes I know that some of them have the wrong year...but they were too cute to get rid of.  So here are some of his "9" month pictures and a few from the last week!

Diploma!!!

My College Diploma came!!!!!!!!! It finally came yesterday! Hans called me at work to let me know that I had received  package int he mail. He said that it stated on it "do not bend" so I knew right away that it was the diploma! To celebrate we went out to dinner at Chili's, plus it was Kim's last night staying with us. (Thanks Kim for all your help with Jacob!)

So tonight we are back to sleep training / getting Jacob back into his crib. I talked to the LC at his pediatric office yesterday to get some tips on how to get him to start sleeping through the night and she said the best way is to get him into the crib. So I started to try again last night, but with Kim trying to pack and then needing to get a good nights sleep, I called it off pretty quick. So tonight with us getting back to our normal routine not having house guests I did as the LC told me and that was feed him dinner, let him play some. Then put him in his PJ's and nurse him either until he is done eating or until he falls asleep and then put him in his crib. Hans helped me as he lowered the crib today to its lowest setting and for me to lay him down in it sleeping I will have to use a step-stool. But when Hans put him down he woke up. I came in and got him to settle down and then put him back in had his music/projector playing that he likes to look at. I then left and shut the door and he was crying before I even got out of the room. As I am writing this he has been in there for 45 minutes. It is hard, but I know that it is the best thing to do. He needs to be sleeping in his crib so that he can get a good nights sleep, but also so that Hans and I can get a good nights sleep. Both my mom and the LC have told me that it is harder on me than it is him....I just have to remember that! :)

So back to the exciting part and that is my diploma. I had Hans take a few pictures of me with it so here they are!

Spaghetti!

I made spaghetti for dinner tonight and decided to let Jacob try some noodles without sauce. He LOVED it! Here are the pictures from dinner tonight!

Fun Day

Today started with scrapbooking time with Megan. She came over and we scrapbooked for a few hours. Well I only finished one page because I haven't ordered pictures of Jacob since he was 1 month old! So I went through all my pictures and ordered the ones that I need printed. Once Megan had to leave, Kim, Jacob and I all headed to the movies. The first one that we wanted to see we couldn't because the line was so long for tickets so we went to Youth in Revolt. It was an ok movie....Kim really wanted to see it, and it was showing at the right time so we went. After the movie we came home and played around until Hans got off of work and then went to the Aces game. They started the game very good, but after a bad call by the ref it went downhill from there and they lost.

Today's pictures are of Kim playing with Jacob!

Hockey!

So tonight's Aces game was a great game! We didn't have the best start but we sure came out with a fire under our butts for the second and third periods. There was a bench clearing attempted fight at the end of the second period.

I got some really cute pictures of Jacob at the game on my phone so here they are!
